Lithium is a member of a group of alkali metals found in the earth's crust. It is one of six elements that make up Group 1 of the periodic table, which include sodium (table salt), potassium (without which your heart stops), rubidium, cesium and lithium. These six elements react with water to form alkalies, strong bases capable of neutralizing acids. Lithium carbonate was discovered by John Cade MD in 1949 as a treatment for the violence that is often seen in Manic-Depressive Disorder and in preventing the violence of suicide, sometimes seen in Recurrent Unipolar Depression. Large doses, up to 1200 milligrams a day, are used in psychiatric practice, and this level needs to be carefully monitored by an experienced doctor. But recently, doses as low as 5 milligrams of Lithium Aspartate and/or Lithium Orotate have been used in the treatment of Alzheimer's Disease. Lithium Aspartate may increase the gray matter nerve cells of the brain by three percent. Even these small 5 milligram doses decrease feelings of rage, anger and violence often seen in Alzheimer patients. This suggests the possibility that salting the Chicago water supply with Lithium Aspartate might provide another way to reduce violence in our society. Blaming guns for human violence is a convenient denial of reality, for violence springs from the mind sets of some 20% of our citizens. It is human violence, not gun violence that we seek to treat. People treated with Lithium have improved memory and reduced rage/anger and salting the water supply with Lithium Aspartate might be an added approach to our community violence prevention programs. Fluorides may have improved our dental health. Lithium could improve our mental health. It is likely that 20% of our citizens cause 80% of our violent crimes. Salting the water with trace amounts of Lithium Aspartate provides a way to reach this 20% and help them find alternative means to deal with their personal and social problems.

If it were so simple. How about a little salt peter in the tap also? Maybe control the population in suggested areas of the world? Or maybe the neighborhood? Besides treading on shakey ground that borders on a Jim Jones experience there are so many side effects to lithium.Here are a few;

harm to unborn babies, nausea, diarrhea, drowsiness, muscle weakness, tremors, lack of coordination, blurred vision. This is not to mention the numerous drug interactions. This article was not thought thru. Violence depicts violence. The ability to contain ones actions begins at home.
